There’s lots to do at the Barnard Castle based museum to keep your little ones out of mischief!
Monday 28th October is Creepy, creepy crawlies day. From 11am to 4pm, come and see the incredible ZOOLAB as they return with a selection of amazingly friendly creatures. Sessions are 45 minutes long and start on the hour. This is always a popular event, so visitors are advised to arrive early as spaces are limited to first come first served.
If you don’t make it into a session, don’t worry there’s still plenty to do while you wait for the next one to start, you can try your hand at creating different animal/spooky crafts with members of our education team or you can explore the Museum with a Halloween themed trail.
On Tuesday 29th October, there’s the chance to visit the Pirates, Pants and Wellyphants exhibition. You can dress up as Pirate Pete, take part in story telling activities and make fun crafts with the education team from 11am until 4pm.
If you’re keen to explore coding and have enjoyed taking part in our LEGO® activities, then you can have a go at making your LEGO® model come alive in a LEGO® WEDO 2 Robotics and Coding Workshop on both Wednesday 30th October and Friday 1st November from 10am until 4pm.
On Halloween, Thursday 31st October, itself there’s lots to do starting with a Spooky Family Fun Day, from 11am until 4pm, where you can make a witch’s broom, create a potion and take part in a magician’s trail.
Then join us for lots of excitement with our Halloween Party from 4.30pm until 6.30pm with your host Magic Andrew. There will be fun, food, games, balloon animal making and a magic show featuring Sooty the magic rabbit. Tickets for the Halloween Party are £10.95 per child, which includes a picnic tea. Refreshments will be available for adults to buy and there is a maximum of two adults that can accompany each child.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
The Bowes Museum is open daily from 10am to 5pm with free entry into Café Bowes and the shop.
