Janusz Plays Chopin

Join celebrated international pianist and conductor Janusz Piotrowicz for an evening of solo music by Chopin in the glittering setting of The Bowes Museum picture galleries.

Come and meet graffiti artist Dan Walls who created the artwork in the LEGO®: Building The Bowes Museum Creation Station and children aged 8 and upwards can have go!

Painting Silver in Oils or Watercolour
19 July, 10 – 4
£45 Adults, £43 Friends
Booking required
Join artist Linda Birch to learn how to capture the magical lustre of silver. Visit the galleries to sketch and observe silver objects and paintings of silver, then learn practical techniques to help you paint highlights, shadows and reflections. All oil or watercolour painters are welcome. Please bring your painting materials (oils or watercolours) plus a silver or plated item. There will be spare items available to paint from.

Cartoon Creations
22 to 26 July, 11 – 4
Have a go at making your favourite cartoon character with our LEGO® team and then take part in our LEGO® stop motion workshop.

Pirates, Pants and Wellyphants
20 July – 3 November
Immerse yourself in Nick Sharratt’s world, find out about his childhood and what inspired him to become an illustrator, and meet a host of the characters that he has created throughout his career including Tracy Beaker, Daisy, Hetty Feather and Pirate Pete.

Informal Concert with Furness Music Centre
24 July, 2.05- 3.30
Join us for an enjoyable afternoon concert with Furness Music Centre. Based in the Furness Peninsula of the Lake District, the Centre provides opportunities for amateur musicians of all ages and abilities to join together in orchestras, choir and chamber groups to play and sing together. We are excited to welcome them as part of their Summer Tour.

Pirates, Pants and Wellyphants
25 July, 11 – 4
Are you ready? There’s a feast of activities for you based on our new interactive and colourful exhibition. This will delight children and keep you entertained. Come and see the work of Nick Sharratt, dress up as a pirate and find the Wellyphant.

Party Time
29 July – 2 August, 11 – 4
Bring your favourite teddy and create a picnic in our special Early Years area of the Creation Station with the LEGO® fun team.
