EASTER HALF TERM:
Gallant Knights Battle for Glory at Berkeley Castle:
Sunday 7th April
Witnessing children gasp, full of wonder, at the spectacular is something truly special.
Accomplished warriors and armour makers certainly know how to achieve this.
Start the Easter Holidays with inspiration, interactive play and a fascinating history lesson as the popular and talented warriors from descend upon the Castle to impart their expertise in the art of sword fighting.
Experience how knights were trained in the 15th century and watch breath-taking sword fights.
See up-close the display of incredible, authentic steel armour masterfully crafted. Your young knights can find their very own helmets, swords and shields in the Castle shop to continue their brave journey beyond the Castle walls.
The Magnificent Seven – Meet the Loves of Henry VIII:
Step into an insightful journey through Henry VIII’s long and eventful life.
Thomas Cromwell welcomes you to the Castle’s Great Hall to meet each of Henry VIII's Six Wives, introduced by Bessie Blount, his favourite mistress.
Hear the gripping story of how each queen fell out of favour with the King. Budding historians are welcomed to quiz each character to satisfy their curiosity and thirst for knowledge.
The Lower Lawns will also play host to a magnificent falconry display. Meet the medieval falconer and discover more about his birds of prey.
A Dragon Eggstravaganza:
Friday 19th – Monday 22nd April
Make Easter a roaring success with our thrilling Dragon Eggstravaganza.
Family and friends of all ages will be entertained and enthralled with fantastic dragon puppetry, getting face-to-face with a baby dragon, and taking part in our colourful Chinese Dragon Parade.
Join the Easter hunt - don’t forget to collect your free treat - then enter the magnificent Great Hall to sit captivated by Dragon Tales from the mystical dragon handlers. Have your face painted as a dragon and get creative with our Easter themed Arts & Crafts.
And why not punctuate your Dragon-filled day with a refreshing Easter treat in the Yurt Tearoom.
MAY DAY BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND:
Knights on Horseback, Jousting & King Henry VIII
Sunday 5th & Monday 6th May
Don’t miss this firm favourite on the Castle calendar, as the Knights and their stunning steeds from Cavalry of Heroes battle it out in a spectacular jousting display in the Castle grounds complete with incredible saddle stunts.
You'll get the chance to meet the gallant Knights and their horses after each show to ask questions and see up close their impressive armour and weapons. His majesty, King Henry VIII, will also be in residence along with his six wives and Thomas Cromwell. Their shows in the Castle’s Great Hall will entertain and educate.

Magnificent Medieval Merriment
Sunday 26th & Monday 27th May
Step into the past with The Company of Chivalry.
Talented re-enactment and living history society, The Company of Chivalry, charge forth with a most engaging and merry weekend crammed with lords, ladies, gunpowder, soldier's drill, music, candle-making, and cookery demonstrations.
All delivered against the fantastic backdrop of our beautiful 12th century Castle.
HALF TERM HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES:
Learn Sword-Fighting at Knight School:
Tuesday 28th & Wednesday 29th May
An immersion into how knights were trained in the 15th century.
Learn the ancient skill of sword fighting as accomplished warriors descend upon the Castle to impart their expert knowledge. Watch the Warrior Show on the lower lawns each day at 3.30pm and see up-close the display of incredible, authentic steel armour masterfully crafted by Dressed to Kill.
Knight School takes place on both days at 11.30 am and 2.15 pm (suitable for ages 5 – adult).
Entry to Knight School is not included in your general admission. Tickets cost £7.50 and are limited in number, so we recommend that you book your slot in advance here to not miss out! General admission tickets can be purchased online or separately on the day.
Norwegian Male Voice Choir Sandneskameratene
Sunday 2nd June
The incredible touring Norwegian male voice choir, Sandneskameratene, perform at midday and at 2pm in the Great Hall where you'll be treated to Norwegian hero songs and variations of medieval and modern music in this rousing concert - a new first for us at Berkeley Castle.
Puppet Shows and Workshops:
Sunday 9th June
A hands-on day out for all ages
We are delighted to welcome The British Puppet and Model Theatre Guild to the Castle for the very first time as they host their summer family fun day. Enjoy a range of puppet shows or have a go at it yourself then make a puppet of your very own to take home.
FATHER'S DAY AT BERKELEY CASTLE:
A Royal Welcome For All
Sunday 16th June
FREE Entry and FREE lunch for Dads
Treat Dad like a King for the day - spoil him with a grand day out at Berkeley Castle. We’ll give him free entry and a delicious free lunch so you won't have to dig in to your royal coffers to show your appreciation of him.
To add to the occasion, we’ve invited His Majesty King Henry VIII and his six wives to make sure Dad gets the royal welcome he deserves. There will also be the opportunity to get creative with Father’s Day themed craft sessions throughout the day.
*Free entry with each full paying child (16 and under), one free main course with another purchased.
