JANUARY:

Dust Busters! Conservation in Action
Date 25 Jan Time 2.15

The start of the New Year is when the preventive conservation team ‘spring’ into action to clean the first-floor galleries collection. There are a vast number of treasures on open display in these rooms and it’s vital to protect them from damage and deterioration – especially dust. Join us for a short talk about how this detailed work is carried out, find out how different objects are cared for and to see the specialist equipment used by our team.

Once Upon a Textile
Date 26 Jan Time 10-1pm & 2-4pm Cost Free Booking required
Once upon a time, there was you, your textile and your story. From Granny’s old teddy to your child’s Christening robe, textiles hold memories for us all. We’d love to find out more about the textiles that matter to you and record your special stories about them. So bring along your cherished item to this relaxed and informal story sharing day and tell us all about it. Sessions are an hour long, during which time your stories will be filmed and our textile conservator Cecilia will advise on how to preserve it for the future.
