The 58 acre Royal Horticultural Society Harlow Carr garden’s main features are water, stone and woodland. “Harlow Carr seeks to push the boundaries of design and planting styles, creating displays that are beautiful, but, on occasion, also provocative.” Wildlife enjoy the garden and grounds. The enclosed alpine zone displays 2000 plants. Added into the mix are herbaceous borders, a fruit garden, a bird hide, children’s playground, kitchen garden, a lake, a wildflower meadow. Gardens through Time shows the history of gardening. An Alpine House adds to the mix. Allow 2-3 hours for a visit.
