London Encounter is not a historical guide to Londonís attractions nor is it an all inclusive guide to Londonís sites. What it does include is brief up-to-date information on some of the better known tourist sites as well as write-ups on restaurants and eating spots, night clubs, and shops.

London has been divided into neighbourhoods with helpful maps of each, making it easy to find the recommended establishments. A larger pull-out map is also included. There is a short section on getting around the city and one of practical information. Inside the back cover is a tube map.
The guidebook is pocket size so easy to carry around for reference during the day.
Author Sarah Johnstone is a native Australian who has lived in London for 10 years and written for Lonely Planet for 5 years.
