Rodmarton Manor, Gloucestershire

Rodmarton Manor by Barbara Ballard Rodmarton Manor by Barbara Ballard Rodmarton Manor is an Arts and Crafts house with most of the furniture made specifically for the house. Construction started in 1909 and finished in 1929. The house was built by Ernest Barnsley who was a follower of William Morris and other Arts and Crafts designers. Pottery, applique wall hangings, leadwork, ironwork and brass continue the Arts and Crafts theme.

There are 150 different types of snowdrops in bloom in January and February. Other winter bloomers are crocus, hellebores, cyclamen, and aconites.

Later in the year roses and herbaceous borders bloom. Alpines, rockery plants, a kitchen garden, and white borders enhance the grounds. Donít miss the charming topiary scattered throughout the garden. Birds and butterflies are frequent visitors.
