Draycott Hotel London

Draycott Hotel entrance courtesy the hotel We’ll take care of you” should be the Draycott Hotel’s motto. It perfectly suits their staff’s attitude and performance. This small hotel is an almost perfect ‘home from home’. Housed in three Edwardian brick row houses (1890 built) that have been joined, it’s a quiet London getaway that still manages to be near a number of the city’s attractions. It’s located in the Kensington/Chelsea borough. Sloane street, one minute away, is known for its upscale stores. Within walking distance are the shops of Knightsbridge, the most famous of which is Harrods.

Draycott Hotel Drawing Room courtesy the hotel The caring attitude of the staff begins when you check in, although it seems more like a visit to a friend as you sit at a desk in the homey reception area. If you arrive between 4 and 6pm, you can partake of complimentary tea and cookies in the drawing room. After 6 indulge in a glass of complimentary champagne.

Draycott Hotel gardens courtesy the hotel The beautifully furnished and comfortable drawing room, complete with fireplace, overlooks the garden square. It’s a great big plus for the hotel as the large garden is available to hotel guests. Another common room, one where guests are allowed to smoke, is the cozy library off the reception hall. Magazines and the morning newspapers are available in the drawing room.

Draycott Hotel Vivien Leigh room courtesy the hotel The 35 individually decorated rooms and suites, named after famous people, vary in their configuration and size, so be specific about what you are looking for when you book a room--some have separate showers and/or fireplaces; a couple have doors opening onto the garden. Most have sofas and small dining tables, and all but a couple are huge in size. Some have the convenience of a kitchenette.

Draycott Hotel Grenfell Room courtesy the hotel All are furnished with antique furniture, have satellite TV, CD systems, and mini-bars. Other room amenities are plenty of magazines to read and a teddy bear to hug goodnight. Large towels and toiletries, bathrobes, and slippers add to the pampering atmosphere. You’ll have no trouble sleeping here—the mattresses on the beds are some of the best I have encountered, and the bed linens are made from the finest Sea Island cotton.

Tucked away on the first floor is a computer that can be used free of charge for accessing internet email. There's 24-hour room service offering a selection of hot and cold dishes and beverages. The hotel serves breakfast and other meals to order.

The Draycott provides a room for private meetings in boardroom style for up to 12 people. It’s equipped with the latest av facilities.

On Kings Road, one minute away from the hotel are a health food store with gluten free goodies, Patisserie Valerie with take-out fresh sandwiches, gelato ice cream, and fancy coffees. Tucked in the square off Kings Road are two deli-restaurants with great food. A bank, Boots pharmacy, and postoffice are a stone’s throw away.

The downside of the hotel: no way to control the heating/air-conditioning yourself from your room. No tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms, unless you get one with a kitchenette.
