Nuthatch Cottage courtesy Nuthatch Cottage John and Janet Stanyer offer a friendly Cumbrian welcome to Nuthatch Cottage visitors. The cottage is a fully renovated and refurbished property as of 2009. The original character, including the beamed ceilings, has been left intact. Itís up to date and modern in its amenities and interior details. Being all on one level makes it perfect for people with mobility problems. And best of all itís spotlessly clean.

View from Nuthatch Cottage patio courtesy Nuthatch Cottage The location is a rural one in the Northern Lakes. Sitting in 23 acres it offers views to the Scottish hills as well as letting a visitor enjoy the local birdlife and wildlife. There are lots of walking and hiking trails in the area. Nearby villages are Wigton, Caldbeck, Hesket Newmarket, and Uldale.

Nuthatch kitchen courtesy Nuthatch Cottage The patio at the cottage by Barbara Ballard A fully equipped kitchen/dining area has an electric oven and gas hob and lets you eat what and when you like, even if you only feel like bothering with coffee and toast in the morning. Thereís a fridge/freezer, microwave, and all the basic dishes and utensils youíll need. A utility room houses a washer and tumble drier. The patio is a great place for a meal on a warm summer day as is the picnic table in the field a few steps away.

In cold weather thereís a great fire to sit in front of and read the books and magazines provided. Whatever the weather it has a warm and cozy atmosphere.

The twin bedroom at the cottage by Barbara Ballard The double bedroom at the cottage courtesy Nuthatch Cottage One bedroom has a double bed and an ensuite shower room while the second has twin beds (convertible) with ensuite shower room. All fuel, bed linen and towels are included in the price. The bathrooms are modern. The beds are very comfortable.

Away from the heavy traffic and hustle and bustle of tourists in the southern lake area, itís still close enough to drive to and from any Lake District attraction for the day.

Nuthatch Cottage from the patio by Barbara Ballard I stayed here and highly recommend it as a place where you will be fully satisfied with the accommodation and your hosts. The one negative thing is that you wonít want to leave! I wanted to move and live there full time.
