The suites come complete with a separate living room that provides lots of space to spread out or entertain visitors. The alternative bedrooms are large and more than adequate for two people as they have a “living” area. The fully furnished kitchenettes have a coffee maker, microwave, plates and cutlery and more. The rooms, decorated in a contemporary style, have TVs, DVD players, and plenty of electrical outlets. Beds are excellent in comfort. There is an onsite fitness centre and self-service free washers and dryers for your laundry. A small but adequate breakfast buffet is included in the price. A bonus is the free drinks time at 6pm—wine, crackers, cheese, and veggie snacks. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The only downside is the neighbourhood in which the hotel is situated—you have to walk a ways to find a restaurant, shop, or other amenities. That said we highly recommend this hotel. It is warm and friendly and more like a home away from home than a chain hotel. A great choice to get to Newcastle from London is by rail with East Coast Trains: advance return fares booked online start from £30 Standard Class or £104 First Class. Book via East Coast Trains or phone 0 8457 225 225, or visit any staffed station. London-Newcastle is a three hour journey. The journey is partly scenic, and the trains are clean and pleasant to relax in, leaving the driving to someone else.
